Wie kann ich mit meiner Quest KACE SMA für z. B. Skriptverteilung oder für Softwareverteilung Smart Labels verwenden?

Ich möchte zum Beispiel, dass ein Software Update nur auf den Clients ausgeführt wird, auf denen eine bestimmte Software einer bestimmten Versionsnummer entspricht bzw. nicht entspricht.

Für unser Beispiel nehmen wir diesen Eintrag im Softwarekatalog. Der Softwaretitel lautet OpenOffice und die Versionsnummer ist die aktuellste und beinhaltet die 4.x.

Im Bereich Inventar -> Geräte -> Smart Labels können wir unsere Kriterien festlegen. Wir suchen als Kriterium den Softwaretitel, der „OpenOffice“ enthält. Zudem fügen wir eine neue Zeile hinzu und legen fest, dass die Softwareversion nicht mit 4 beginnt. Mit dem Button testen können wir probieren, ob unsere Kriterien zutreffen und das gewünschte Ergebnis bringen.

Für das neue Smart Label vergeben wir einen Namen und speichern es. Schon haben wir ein neues Smart Label erstellt.

Im Bereich Verteilung -> Verwaltete Installationen oder im Bereich Skripterstellung -> Skripte können wir nun festlegen, dass der entsprechende Prozess auf Clients ausgeführt wird, die dieses Smart Label haben. Das heißt, dass sich dieses Smart Label mit der Zeit selbst abschaffen wird, nachdem die Software auf allen Clients aktualisiert wurde.

Wichtig zu bedenken ist, dass das eben erstelle Smart Label den Clients erst bei der nächsten Inventarisierung zugeteilt wird. Die diesem Smart Label zugewiesene verwaltete Installation erfolgt erst nach Zuweisung dieses Smart Labels und dem festgelegten Zeitplan. Nach der darauf folgenden Inventarisierung führt der Client, auf dem die Softwareaktualisierung durchgeführt wurde, schließlich nicht mehr dieses Smart Label.

How can I use my Quest KACE SMA smart labels for e.g. script distribution or software distribution? For example, I would like a software update to only be carried out on clients on which a certain software corresponds or does not correspond to a certain version number.

For our example we will use this entry in the software catalog. The software title is OpenOffice and the version number is the most recent and includes 4.x.

We can define our criteria in the Inventory -> Devices -> Smart Labels area. We are looking for the software title that contains „OpenOffice“ as a criterion. We also add a new line and specify that the software version does not start with 4. With the test button we can try whether our criteria apply and bring the desired result.

We give the new Smart Label a name and save it. We have already created a new smart label.

In the Distribution -> Managed Installations area or in the Scripting -> Scripts area, we can now specify that the corresponding process is carried out on clients that have this Smart Label. This means that this Smart Label will become obsolete over time after the software has been updated on all clients.

It is important to remember that the smart label that has just been created is only assigned to the clients during the next inventory. The managed installation assigned to this Smart Label does not occur until this Smart Label has been assigned and the specified schedule. After the subsequent inventory, the client on which the software update was carried out no longer has this Smart Label.
